YOUNG CLASSICAL MUSICIAN COMPETITION
In February, 2024 Pro Musica will hold the second Young Mexican Classical Musician Competition. The inaugural competition was a huge success in 2022, with outstanding winners who were awarded $400,000 pesos in prizes and who are receiving on-going career guidance and mentoring from us. We will begin auditioning for the 2024 Competition in September,2023. We anticipate some 200 applicantsfrom whom and we will narrow the field down to 15 talented individuals playing a wide range of orchestral instruments, including piano.
These 15 will compete in an all-day semi final in San Miguel when you will be able to hear each of them play for 20 minutes. The best 5 will go forward to the finals in the same week in the form of a concert, when the distinguished Judges will award prizes again totaling $400,000 pesos; and there will be an Audience Choice Prize for you to decide.
To conclude this exciting week there will be a Winners Concert when the two top prize winners will each play half of the concert; around 40 minutes each. The standard of many of these young musicians is incredibly high and the best are ready to take the world by storm with their talent. You will not want to miss seeing and hearing the next generation of stars at the very beginning of their careers.
The Competition is only possible because of the generous donations we receive towards the prize fund. These come from members of the public, our concert audiences and our Patron Members. Benefit for the Young Classical Musician Competition!
To help raise funds for the prizes there will be a MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA on March 6, 2023. This will be a sumptuous evening in a private home in Los Frailes where you will enjoy Prosecco and canapés in the garden, followed by an outstanding concert with some of your favorite artists from our international concert series, including William Ransom, piano, and Quill Bailey, cello, whose concerts for us have been highly acclaimed. After the concert, there will be food and wine in the house and an opportunity to meet and greet the musicians. This event has proved to be very popular in previous years and there is no doubt that this season it will be better than ever. Tickets will be on sale soon.
